What we do:
Partnership Information:C. & A. SANDFORD
Summerways Bridge Gas Distribution Services
An Overview of the C. & A. Sandford Partnership C. & A. Sandford is a partnership consisting of myself as
Senior Partner & ADR driver, our son Courtney, as a very experienced and well
sought after Gas Safe registered Gas
Engineer, formally CORGI registered now Gas Safe Registered, my wife Ann, who
acts as the Partnership Administrator, but has other jobs i.e. receptionist,
sales person, invoicing clerk, accounts manager and housewife. Our daughter
Estelle has her own position as an IT Specialist and generally only deals with
our IT problems. We also have three other full time staff, a Gas Safe Registered
Gas Engineer, who joined us as an apprentice nine years ago, & a gas cylinder
filler/yard sales person & an ADR driver/delivery/sales person; both have been
with us for more than five years. In 1988 we purchased our current premises in Accommodation
Road, Bleadon to build a gas compound, stores & workshop and in 1998 we
purchased the other half of the site, which now includes the Mendip Model Motor
Racing Circuit; a 4.6 acre site, now known as Summerways Bridge Site, hence our
changed trading name from 1990 – Summerways Bridge Gas Distribution Services. Our Gas Engineering side, formerly my forte, has been managed
by Courtney since 2003, covers all aspects of installation and servicing, both
domestic and commercial in Natural Gas & LP Gas, we have recently run in a large
LP gas main, supplying & fitting meters to 125 caravan bases at large caravan
park having installed a 63mm ring main on the site using electro fusion welding
techniques for the joints. We have specialist knowledge of
ultra high efficient gas condensing boilers, which goes back to 1990,
when I saw the future in these boilers and purchased a franchise from Glotec
Boilers to sell, supply, fit, cover warranty work & after one year service ,
maintain & sell spares all over the British Isles (a worthwhile 15 year cycle).
We now are agents & spares stockists for Keston Condensing Boilers, covering an
area up to the Severn Bridge in the north, down to Exeter in the south & out to
the Malvern Hills in the east. C. & A. Sandford is a business with 36 years experience in the
gas cylinder trade; we are a caring independent gas company with over a three &
a half thousand of our own 47kg. & 19kg. propane cylinders, 18kg and 12.7kg fork
lift truck propane cylinders together with 4.7 & 11 kg. leisure cylinders; all
logoed in the name of Summerways Bridge Gas, the majority of these cylinders are
used for our bottled gas central heating customers (four, six and eight packs)
or caravan parks where we know clients are loyal and will look after them, &
also long standing clients using fork lift truck cylinders. We have our own
cylinder filling facility within our gas compound with 6000 litres of bulk gas
storage, which is refilled at least three times a week. We maintain our
standards by washing every cylinder after each refill, providing our clients
with clean cylinders, which we know is appreciated. We offer free delivery
within 15 mile radius As Flogas Main Dealers, we distribute through a network of 38
dealers/stockists from Clevedon in the north, to Bridgwater in the south and out
to Wells to the east, with 15 different sizes in propane & butane including the
new 27mm Leisure Range. We are always looking for extra stockists if there are
any of you interested or know a likely client!
Cages & good discounts are available, I am always pleased to discuss
terms. We have four Autogas outlets for those of you whose vehicles
run on LP gas (all ours do):- At our
own gas compound, at Holiday Resort Unity, Brean, at Bristol Gas Supplies,
Victoria Rd., Bristol and the fourth at Broad Street in Chipping Sodbury. We are
also keen to provide tanks & supply gas for private use, with hand or electric
pumps saving a further 8 to 10p per litre against pump prices. Supplying private bulk tanks, new or second hand in 1 & 2
tonne sizes together with bulk gas, saving clients up to 10p/litre against Calor
– Flo Shell or BP prices has become very popular. We have recently taken
delivery of 8 new 1 tonne vessels, all have been sold & fitted & will hopefully
increase our bulk gas sales in the coming years to 3,000,000 litres. We are now
involved in the bulk tank transfer scheme set up after an investigation by the
Competition Commission into over charging of bulk gas by the “majors”. The needs of a considerable number of schools, for their
heating, and industrial clients, who use LP gas forklift trucks and gas for
process and/or temporary winter heating, for farms that bring on day old
turkeys, chicken & ducks to six weeks, are all looked after; together with 42
Caravan Parks/Seasonal Accounts with over 4000 cylinders permanently attached to
the caravans. Good stocks of quality butane Catalytic and Radiant Cabinet
Heaters are held; the Catalytic convection heaters are suitable for Shops,
Offices & Small Factories and meet the 1973 H & SW Act.
Propane Site Comfort Heaters are also available & are economical to run. We also stock Helium Gas; the N20 size will blow up 600 x 9
inch balloons & is available for weddings, parties etc., is supplied with a
filler nozzle. Alternatively we have
“Box Packs” which contains a cylinder of helium & 50 mixed coloured 9 inch
balloons, the latter very popular for children’s parties. In an effort to increase our sales turnover in these difficult
times, we have recently taken on sales of Industrial & Pub Gases with some
success & are looking to increase this side of the business. We stock all
general Industrial Gases in the X47 size & for Pub Gases we hold stocks in the
X47 & X30 sizes; all at good prices & free delivery!!
We have put together a website which can be seen at
www.sandford-ca.co.uk, on which there is an aerial picture of our site as well
as lots of product detail. Please have a look & browse.
Thank you for your interest, we look forward to your
instructions. Colin Sandford Senior Partner - Revised 1st January 2010
